Of course there are many outdoor market events, including Uitmarkt, which celebrates the opening of Dutch Cultural each year. The free event features a book market, as well as all the traditional artistic and more practical wares that street vendors typically offer.
Some of the more unusual events in Amsterdam include Museumnacht, where patrons can literally spend a night in any of the city's museums. All museums open and organize special activities to attract visitors for this special event on the Saturday of the first full week in November.
