Heineken International is now a popular beer brand worldwide and is manufactured in 115 countries, but it has Dutch origins. The company claims that the beer’s original formula has not changed since it was first brewed more than 150 years ago.

With the distinction of being the fourth largest beer brewer in the world, Heineken still operates two breweries out of the Netherlands. The Amsterdam factory closed in 1988, but has been preserved as a museum called “The Heineken Experience.”

The building was built in 1867. It now contains interactive exhibits, bars where three glasses of Heineken are covered by the museum entrance fee, and the museum even has “rides.”

The museum is located in the De Pijp area of the Oud-Zuid District, but is temporarily closed for renovations and expected to re-open in Summer 2008.
